Alter (aber nicht erster) OkCupid-Profiltext (zu löschen Mai 2011):
I'm a native of Berlin, living here since ... ever. Some years ago, I went to the Freie Universität to study Film Studies and Philosophy, but dropped out. Since then, I've been involved in various web projects, worked a little as a film critic, a blogger and writer and as a lecturer on some of my intellectual obsessions.
My lifestyle is somewhat bohemian and at the same time a little autistic. For sports, I don't do much, except going to the climbing gym (which incorporates a nice sauna!) once a month with friends. I rarely can bring myself to dance, except if I'm very drunk, or if triggered by nostalgia for certain pieces of music that I danced to when I was younger, or if I'm totally alone so no one can see me.
I consider myself a "futurist" and "cinephile", that is: I'm into utopian and futuristic ideas, and also into film history. I'm also a big internet culture geek. I try to upload my personal history and brain onto my wiki / website www.plomlompom.de. I talk at internet and hacker conferences (mostly on futurism, "mind uploads" and "the end of privacy"), but I've also done some silent cinema evenings at a local youth theatre. I enjoy explaining and showing people what I'm obsessed with: movies, books, history and ideas.
I've never been in a 'real' relationship and I'm not sure I'd like to be right now. I don't really get the idea of monogamy, but my interests in polyamory so far have been rather theoretical. I can become infatuated with people, occasionally several at the same time. I've experimented a little with BDSM and really liked it, but right now I'm not as obsessed with my sexuality as I once was. I easily develop a crush on a smart and pretty face, intelligence and honesty.
What I’m doing with my life
I blog, twitter, write stuff into the internet. Sometimes also on paper.
I'm trying out new stuff, experimenting with identity, privacy and new vessels for intelligence.
I’m really good at
I have lots of obscure knowledge that is totally useless in most situations!
The first things people usually notice about me
I have lots of mostly utopian ideas that people consider to be crazy.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Fiction by authors such as H.P. Lovecraft, Jorge Luis Borges, Neal Stephenson, Marquis de Sade and Kim Stanley Robinson. Science fiction, as it deals with ideas. Certain types of fantasy and cosmic horror. Kinky and fetishistic porn.
Non-fiction on science and history. I really enjoy reading Sir Roger Penrose's "The Road to Reality: A Complete Guide To The Laws of the Universe", but I've never made it past the first 90 pages (and I've tried several times!). I've read quite a bit about European history, and I'm also heavily interested in pre-history. And of course I'm interested in the history of ideas, religions, philosophies.
My favourite auteurs are Sergei Eisenstein, Jean-Luc Godard, D.W. Griffith, Sergio Leone, Dziga Vertov, Alain Resnais, Orson Welles, Sergei Paradzhanov, Alexander Kluge, Peter Greenaway and Rainer Werner Fassbinder. I also enjoy Michael Bay movies. I prefer shameless entertainment and propaganda to some variety of arthouse seriousness. I very much enjoy experimental insanities and certain degrees of formalistic self-importance.
Michael Nyman, Philip Glass, Björk, Gustav Holst, Laibach, Ennio Morricone, Die Kassierer, Foyer des Arts. My musical interests are not very articulated, and my knowledge in the history of pop music is almost non-existant. But there is stuff that I enjoy, be it as a guilty pleasure or be it because of its classical or minimalistic beauty.
food / beverages:
Döner, KFC, Club Mate. I hardly prepare my own food besides putting a ready-made pizza into the oven. I don't spend much money on food either. But once in a while I'm willing to learn about new tastes.
The six things I could never do without
Human civilization and culture. My brain and some media to externalize it into.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
History. Internet culture. The shifting values of privacy and identity. Futurism. How to turn my intellectual obsessions into a living.
On a typical Friday night I am
Sometimes, I'm out with friends. Sometimes, I'm doing a video evening for friends at my place (film history buff that I am). Sometimes, I'm staying home to work on something. Due to my bohemian lifestyle, I don't really feel the need to behave differently on Friday and Saturday nights than on other days of the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I think this "privacy" thing is going away. Maybe not as quickly as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg wishes, but, ultimately, it's over.
You should message me if
Feel free to message me if anything here sparkles your interest, or if you want to learn more about me. I'm open to interesting discourse and even, sometimes, meeting in the outside world!
To be honest, I don't get messaged much. (That's the case for most heterosexual males on dating sites.) So there's a good chance I'd feel flattered, no matter what.
